More preliminaries!  This time for events such as the 400 IM and 200 Breaststroke, both which make for some nice photos.

Tomorrow it’s back over at 9am for the finals of tonight’s events.  A few swimmers came close to some records in tonight’s preliminaries, so it should make for an exciting morning.

Well it was an eventful morning with the finals from last nights preliminaries.  Things got exciting in the fifth event of the day, the Women’s 200m Backstroke.  Kirsty Coventry set a new world record with a time of 2:06.39

Today also saw a few pool records fall, along with the american long course meters record in the Women’s 400m Freestyle.  Katie Hoff beat the previous record set back in 1988 by over a second.
Now it’s onto more preliminaries later this afternoon…

The Missouri Grand Prix opened today, the beginning of four total days of swimming.  Tomorrow I’m shooting both sessions, the first of which starts at 9am tomorrow.

So here are a few of my favorites from tonight’s preliminaries.  I got a nice photo of Michael Phelps in the men’s 200m fly, but I missed Natalie Coughlin in the women’s 100m free.
